"Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God.
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
It's a jungle out there. The world we live in is a simultaneously beautiful and scary place - one that we're not meant to experience or attempt to navigate alone. In 2019-2020 youth ministry programs at St. Vincent de Paul will be asking the question, "What does it really mean to be Catholic?" We'll challenge one another to stand up for the truth found in our faith. We'll encourage one another to rise up against the obstacles that keep us from being who God calls us to be. It's our hope that by diving deeper into a holistically Catholic relationship with Jesus, our teens will take courage and strength from a God who knows their every fear, and beckons them to become the very best version of themselves.
MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY
Middle School (grades 6-8) is a formative and challenging time in the life of a young person. The EDGE program helps teens navigate these waters in an environment that combines traditional classroom catechesis and youth ministry principles in a dynamic and community-building package. Teens are placed in small classroom groups according to gender and grade level. Three classes out of four occur in the small classroom, with the fourth adopting a youth ministry format.
Below is an example of what you might see on a Wednesday evening at EDGE. Actual times and activities will vary:
6 pm - Gather: Icebreaker & Opening Prayer
6:15 pm - Proclaim: Large group testimony/summary of the day's lesson
6:30 pm - Break: Small group catechesis with a Core Team leader
6:55 pm - Send: "Go forth" message and group prayer
7 pm - Dismissal
HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY
High School presents each young person with unique challenges and incredibly fun experiences. The IMPACT program strives to meet the varied spiritual and social needs of each teen in a way that resonates with them as individuals. We believe that quality youth ministry empowers the community to actively engage teens in dynamic and affirming ways, providing them with the tools they need to live Christ-centered lives.
Below is an example of what you might see on a Sunday evening at IMPACT. Actual times and activities will vary:
6:00 pm - Gather 1: Shared Meal
6:20 pm - Gather 2: Icebreaker & Opening Prayer

TEEN PEER LEADERSHIP MINISTRY
Discipleship is about living out your relationship with Jesus every day! Ember Team empowers teens who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation to magnify the Gospel through prayer, unity (community life), leadership, service, and evangelization. By focusing on these aspects of Christian living, teens not only give back to their communities and peers, but continue to grow in faith and love with God. Ember Team is for any teen ages 14-19 who has been confirmed.
ADULT LEADERSHIP MINISTRY
Perhaps more than ever, teens today need adult witnesses of the Gospel to show them the beauty and fulfillment found in a life lived with Jesus! Core Team is about more than picking up pizzas or chaperoning from the safety of the back row at a retreat. At SVdP, we rely on Core Team to help bring our teens to Jesus by sharing in their joys, struggles and everything in-between. We believe that everyone is called to discipleship, and being a part of Core Team gives you the opportunity to make a lasting impact in the faith lives of young people. We need YOU!
COME HOLY SPIRIT!
“Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiations, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.” CCC 1316
